Hi! My name is Manuel and I am from Spain. I keep on traveling to India for my work-related stuff. Moreover, I like to explore different places and cultures in India. Previously, I used to stay in hotels at the time of my visits to India. Last week when I visited India, someone told me about this concept of BnB. I came to know that in BnB accommodations we get a chance to live with the local households in their homes. I found it pretty different and fascinating and I thought that maybe by living with the local people I would be able to explore their culture more beautifully.

While searching on the internet a good BnB accommodation, I stumbled on to this website called www.bnbnation.com. After exploring all my options of the available BnB accommodations, finally, I booked a BnB through the same website. I took a cab from the airport to reach the BnB that I have booked for my stay. After reaching there, I was really surprised! I saw that all the family members were waiting at the door for my welcome. They took my luggage towards my room and offered me to have breakfast with the whole family. While serving the breakfast, they told me the concept of “Atithi Devo Bhava” which means “Guest is like God”. They told me that this week they have their very important festival Deepawali and they insisted that I also celebrate the festival with them. I was very excited about the celebration because this was the first time I would be celebrating an Indian festival with the people of India in their home.

The next day when I woke up in the morning, one person from the family came to invite me for breakfast and he told me that in our family we have this culture of eating breakfast together with the whole family. I was quite fascinated by their cultures and beliefs and after that, I used to join them for breakfast daily in the morning before leaving for my work.

One night while coming back from a meeting, I suddenly started having a severe headache and fever. The moment I reached home, the family member who opened the gate for me, immediately recognized that I am not well. He told about my sickness to his whole family and they were all really worried for me. They called their family doctor for my checkup and the doctor told us that we need not worry about my health. It’s just a minor infection that will go away in 1-2 days. The whole family was taking care of me as if I was a part of their family. That was a moment of amazement in disguise for me. They were telling me a lot of home treatments known as “desi nuskhe” that will help to improve my condition. Finally, with the help of all their efforts, I was completely cured within two days.

Now, here comes the day for which I was really excited. It was the day of Deepawali! One of the family members told me beforehand to cancel all my plans on the day of Diwali because they wanted me to be with them for the whole day. I was feeling like part of their family. I was helping them with the decoration of their home. The best part about that day was, I was eating a lot of tasty desserts which I haven’t tried in my whole life. In the evening I joined them in their religious prayer and after that, we all had an amazing time together chit-chatting and eating delicious food that was specially made for that night.

It was the best trip of my life because usually I come to India to build strong professional relations but this was the first time I have made some strong everlasting personal relations. I will cherish every moment spent with the family in India. I would surely go to the same BnB accommodation on my next visit to India.

We at BnB Nation focus more on building a strong connect with our guests. Our motto is to showcase the true culture of our country to various people all across the globe.
